Sunday 4th June 2017: ‘Pentecost’ (Whit Sunday)

"And Suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them." Acts 2 v 2 & 3

Thought for the week:  ‘Breaking down our Barriers to God’

‘We naturally have an affinity to God, for that is integral to human life. This I believe and know but by many the very idea may be denied and even scorned. It is somewhat ironic that our inbuilt desire to know God is countered by an inbuilt resistance. Like Vicki Pollard in ‘Little Britain’, we may say “yes but no but……” to God, who is the source of our life. The Holy Spirit is God’s way of breaking down our resistance to a relationship with him. This may seem challenging and threatening to our precious ways of life but the Lord knows our anxieties. The Holy Spirit touches the deeper reaches of our lives, breaking down the barriers through conviction and through reassurance. The Lord loves us and wants the best for us – if we let Him. Pray for the Holy Spirit to renew your life. I guarantee that you will never look back!

Pray:

  • For personal renewal in the Holy Spirit – and inspiration to follow Jesus on the right pathway.
  • For our life together and our mission.
  • For an end to the war in Syria.
  • For Christians serving the Lord in tough places -especially for Christians in Egypt, Pakistan & Syria.
