Easter 2017

For week beginning   Sunday 21st May 2017

Thought for the week: ‘Empty Yourself of Self’

‘My very first sermon was preached on John 14 v15-21. That was a long time ago and today’s sermon would be different, yet would still express the same truth about the work of the Holy Spirit, who engages our lives with God. The Holy Spirit is given and it is down to us to receive. The Holy Spirit is God’s means of personal encounter in and through our lives. Is the Holy Spirit at work in your life? Will you empty yourself of self to receive?

Pray:

·        For personal renewal in the Holy Spirit – and inspiration to follow Jesus on the right pathway.

·        For our life together and our mission.

·        For an end to the war in Syria.

·        For Christians serving the Lord in tough places -especially for Christians in Egypt, Pakistan & Syria.

Notices:

‘Jammy Toddlers’ – New ‘drop in’ for parents and toddlers – Wednesdays at 9am – St. Mary Farnham Royal

Rogation Sunday Walk – Sunday 21st May at 2.30pm

The Sixth Sunday of Easter is traditional Rogation Sunday – The word ‘rogation’ is derived from the Latin, ‘rogare’, which means to plead or ask. This was the traditional time to pray for a successful harvest, often with processions around the parish boundaries. We will meet at St. John’s at 2.30pm for walk, bringing us back by 4pm.

Ascension Day Service

Come and join us at St Georges Church in Britwell on Thursday 25th May at 7.30pm – This will be a joint service for our Northern Group of Parishes.
