Weekly Epistle

United Benefice e-pistle

For week beginning Sunday 14th May 2017

‘Easter 2017’

He is Risen!

Alleluia!

Thought for the week: ‘Living stones (I presume)?’

‘We all have an inbuilt resistance to change and a particular resistance to God who desires that we become the people that we are meant to be. To be a ‘living stone’ in God’s house means letting go of the ‘stuff’ that defeats His purposes! We may safely call this sin or our overwhelming defence of our egos. Where is your life centred? In God or unhealthily submerged in your ego? A ‘living stone’ will enable more stones to get a life in God.

Pray:

·        For personal renewal in the Holy Spirit – and inspiration to follow Jesus on the right pathway.

·        For our life together and our mission.

·        For an end to the war in Syria.

·        For Christians serving the Lord in tough places -especially for Christians in Egypt, Pakistan & Syria.

Notices:

‘Jammy Toddlers’ – New ‘drop in’ for parents and toddlers – Wednesdays at 9am – St. Mary Farnham Royal

Rogation Sunday Walk – Sunday 21st May at 2.30pm

The Sixth Sunday of Easter is traditional Rogation Sunday – The word ‘rogation’ is derived from the Latin, ‘rogare’, which means to plead or ask. This was the traditional time to pray for a successful harvest, often with processions around the parish boundaries. We will meet at St. John’s at 2.30pm for walk, bringing us back by 4pm.

Ascension Day Service

Come and join us at St Georges Church in Britwell on Thursday 25th May at 7.30pm – This will be a joint service for our Northern Group of Parishes.
